New hires: Emil Karlsson and Steven Olimpio
We've been pretty picky with Creative hires in the LA office and met with a slew of talent on the west coast (and interested east-coasters, of course) in 2016. We're quite pleased to say that in the latter part of 2016, we added two truly lovely and talented people to round out LA's Creative offering:
Steven Olimpio joined us as an Art Director back in October with a specialist in Design, though his interdisciplinary background has him working across both traditional and non-traditional means: typography, illustration, visual and brand identity, strategy, writing, coding, and animation.
Steve came to us from the Los Angeles office of Toronto design studio, Bruce Mau where he worked across the Sonos re-positioning; Adidas (LA FC, specifically); the LA 2024 Bid; and architectural firm, Sasaki. He's an avid cycler (from Silver Lake to our Culver City office every day), has an overall focus on wellness (regardless of his dumpster-diving college-past), and he's the tallest in the office (he did grow up on a Christmas tree farm). Height and his sordid college days aside, he fits into the family perfectly.
Emil Karlsson joined us in December from B-Reel NY / LA where he lead the Motion team on both coasts on internationally recognized work across Google, MTV, Facebook, Squarespace, and Warner Bros. Emil is working with us as an Art Director, with an emphasis on Motion, further strengthening our Creative and Post outputs. As LA's first Swede (the gates are open!), it isn't any wonder that he placed second in the world championship of candy cane making; spent eight months blowing up cars, bombs, and other stuff in the military; or that his first name isn't Emil at all, it's Karl. He's excited to be the newest member of the team and do us proud.
