The 2015 John Lewis Christmas campaign tells the story of a magical connection between a little girl, Lily, and a Man who lives on the Moon – Lily watches as he goes about his chores, all alone up there. She becomes determined to get something to the moon, to send him a message and show him that someone down here is thinking of him.

The app, which can be downloaded for Android and iOS, uses augmented reality to bring the moon to life. By pointing your phone at the Man on the Moon image on John Lewis packaging and shopping bags (or by holding the device up towards the moon itself), users can unlock a 3D interactive moon that releases daily facts and animations in the countdown to Christmas Day’s full moon.

The app also features a Man on the Moon game in which users avoid obstacles, and collect power ups in a bid to get a chosen object all the way up to the Man on the Moon.

Unlock new playable objects from the wardrobe each time you get closer to the moon. Each object comes with its own unique physics and powers.

With over 20 levels to complete, users will encounter over 140 obstacles, individually animated for each part of the journey to the moon.
