Fly Victor charter private jets around the world, working with a vast array of operators to provide a premium service to clients, delivered via their bespoke booking and operations systems. The helipad terminal at Royal Ascot offers an opportunity to communicate to an elusive clientele, requiring something engaging and intelligent that represents Fly Victor’s premium brand and smart technology.
Flight data is pulled from Fly Victor’s API and plotted onto a 3D globe. Users are able to explore this data by touch, moving the globe around to show flights from origin to destination. Below the globe a timeline allows users to drag and explore the dataset, showing the earth and corresponding flights at different times of the day.
The application was built in WebGL on top of a React boilerplate developed internally and displayed on an infrared touchscreen with a custom fabricated surround.
The whole project was delivered in an astonishing three weeks, with the application being built from the ground up. The installation provided a centerpiece for Victor staff to engage a hard to reach audience where gaining just one or two new clients is enough to make the campaign successful.
